About me

I was born in Stölzles (Gmünd/Lower Austria) in 1955. Already during my early years, I had been focusing on the art of painting.

Autodidactically, I have acquired knowledge of various painting techniques. My paintings are
created by the oil, acrylic or pastel chalk drawing technique, although I developed a particular passion für pastel chalk painting.

The seminar „drawing and painting“ at the Adult Education Center in Korneuburg as well as various courses for portrait and nude painting at the Artistic Adult Education Center in Vienna extended my artistic creativity. A significant part of my spare time I devote to the art of painting.

Formerly, I was painting landscapes, buildings, flowers, animals, rural and ancient customs as well as women portraits. However, my big passion had always been the painting of portraits. Since my retirement, mid of 2017, I am solely focusing on portrait paintings. Portrait paintings are one of the greatest challenges in the art of painting.

My role models are the painting techniques of the Old Masters, who contemplatively observed nature and human kind, as well as the master painters of the modern age like Cezanne, Renoir, Monet and others. As an artist, I am considering the art of painting as a subtle play of colors, where the very moment often decides whether composition technique, artistic impression or improvisation have succeeded.

As a quiet and sensitive artist, I am trying to illustrate a picture of the world, where human kind and nature are harmoniously in line. My paintings are calm and focused.
